Dear Parents,

Welcome to a new school year at Woodbury!  I would like to take this opportunity to welcome both you and your child to Fifth Grade.  I look forward to working with your child to encourage the development of new talents, skills, and abilities this year.  I can’t wait to see how much your child will grow academically, socially, and emotionally.

For those of you who do not know me, I joined the Woodbury family this year.  I attended Vanguard University for my teaching credential and Master’s degree.  I have been working with children for over 8 years in various academic endeavors.  Most recently, I was a long-term substitute teacher on assignment in fifth grade last year here at Woodbury.  I have been fortunate to work with many different age groups, and I am thrilled to be working with fifth grade students again this year.

I am looking forward to meeting all of you at Back to School Night on Thursday, August 8th.  I hope you will be able to attend this important event to learn about our policies, communication practices, and curriculum.  Parent Conferences will be held August 26th—30th.  Please check the school’s website at www.iusd.org/wo and the school newsletters for continued calendar updates.

Please remember to note our student dismissal times.  In upper grade, our regular dismissal time is 2:32pm.  On Wednesdays and Minimum Days, students will be dismissed at 1:17pm.

Please take the time to fill out the attached forms (my homework plan and permission slip), and have your child return them to me as soon as possible.  Also, please complete the “Parent Communication Form” on my classroom website here.

In addition, please keep in mind that given the number of students we have in the class, I will need your help and support.  I hope that some of you will be able to volunteer in our classroom or from your home.  I will be discussing this further at Back to School Night, and I thank you in advance for your willingness to assist me.

If you have any questions or concerns before Back to School Night, please do not hesitate to contact me directly via e-mail [email protected].  I look forward to meeting you soon!

    Sincerely,

    Mrs. Sarah Dalton
